Raiders need to trade for Ryan Ramczyk amid Saints turmoil

The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to return to the playoffs in 2022. That’s a realistic expectation, but to do so, they need a starting tackle. Why not Ryan Ramczyk?

The Las Vegas Raiders qualified for the postseason coming off the heels of a four-game win streak to close the season. However, this success should not cloud the fact that the Raiders’ offensive line needs help, lots of it. A player of Ryan Ramczyk’s caliber would help tremendously.

An All-Pro right tackle doesn’t just grow on trees. The Raiders have found that out the hard way over the past few years. Alex Leatherwood, the last first-round pick that Mike Mayock made, didn’t pan out in his rookie campaign. So much so that he was moved inside to guard to salvage his season.

The smart move would be to keep Leatherwood and sign a proven veteran to address the deficiency on the right side. Bringing in Ramczyk via trade also ensures that the Raiders are taking full advantage of Derek Carr’s window for success. The signal-caller has several weapons around him and could get more this offseason. What better addition than one that’ll keep Carr upright?

Whoever comes in to make drafting decisions in Las Vegas will have options this April. They could realistically have a chance to pick up Northern Iowa’s Trevor Penning or Darian Kinnard from Kentucky. Both would be solid prospects, but again, there’s an inherent risk. If they don’t pan out, the Raiders are back in the same spot as last season.

Swing a deal for Ramczyk and put those fears to rest. Right now, more than ever, the Silver and Black might have an opportunity to do so.
