Where does Raiders Derek Carr land in our complete AFC QB rankings?

After entering the NFL with as much hype as any QB prospect ever has, Lawrence struggled from the very beginning of 2021. Of course, the disclaimer here is that he played for the 2021 Jacksonville Jaguars. Truthfully, there might not be a worse head coach for a rookie quarterback than Urban Meyer. While attempting to run his offense, Lawrence threw seven interceptions in his first three games.

Astonishingly, things did not get much better for him statistically going forward. From week nine to week sixteen Lawrence threw just one touchdown pass. Sandwiched in that stretch was a four-interception game against the Tennessee Titans that earned him a 35.5 QBR. He would finish 2021 with 3,641 yards, twelve touchdowns, and seventeen interceptions.

Despite his early struggles, expect Lawrence to improve drastically going forward. Simply having competent coaching around him should raise his level of play. Surrounding Lawrence with more NFL talent will be the biggest goal of Jacksonville’s off-season as he cannot be expected to succeed with Laquon Treadwell as one of his top receivers.
