If 2021 was Ben Roethlisberger’s swan song, and it should be, it was an unfortunate end to a Hall of Fame career. The raw numbers, 3,740 yards, 22 touchdowns, and ten interceptions, tell a different story than the play on the field did. With twelve more “turnover worthy throws” than “big-time throws”, Roethlisberger was not the same player in 2021.

Ben Roethlisberger is without a doubt one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. In his prime, he was a gunslinger who was almost impossible to bring down and would do anything it took to win. In 2021, his playing style caught up to him and his body failed him. Often more reminiscent of a statue than a football player, the big plays he was synonymous with disappeared as well.
