Raiders begin building for the future in latest 7-Round Mock
With their first-round pick, the Raiders select…
That’s right Raider Nation; your team goes with a quarterback in the first round this year. The biggest needs at right tackle and wide receiver need to be addressed in free agency. Las Vegas could trade for Ryan Ramczyk and sign Chris Godwin. Therefore, allowing them to draft Carr’s long-term replacement. By long-term, the intention is that Carson Strong won’t see the field for at least a year while riding the bench.
Strong is an efficient pocket passer with a noteworthy arm. The Nevada signal-caller accumulated 486 passes while totaling 5,193 yards and 38 touchdowns. More importantly, he only threw 11 interceptions from 2019 to 2020, though he had eight last year.
He was the Mountain West’s Offensive Player of the Year the previous two seasons as well.
If McDaniels becomes the next head coach, he’d likely go with Carr for at least one year. However, Strong would be a prospect that would fit the mold of his offense. His pocket presence and ability to make things happen outside of it are intriguing. Again, the only way this scenario takes place is if the Raiders address right tackle and wide receiver before the draft.
