Josh McDaniels is now the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, and here, we place an early grade on the hire of the former Patriots OC.

Now that the dust has settled on the hiring of Joshua Thomas McDaniels as the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders — one has to ask themselves — was this hire the precise one the Raiders needed to finally build a perennial contender?

The move of McDaniels was basically one of a package deal to be precise. Along with McDaniels who was hired away from the New England Patriots, came the Raiders brand new General Manager David Ziegler.

The longtime Patriots executive in Ziegler will be overseeing roster moves as McDaniels focuses on coaching, something that should be welcoming as (the technical last hired) previous coach Jon Gruden was involved in near every facet of the Raider franchise.

McDaniels returns in his second stint as a head coach, after what was a disappointing tenure as head coach of the Denver Broncos which may have been a bit premature at that time as the coach was only 33-year-old.
