Analyzing the Raiders Quarterback situation entering the 2022 offseason
Looking ahead
Dolphins’ backup quarterback Jacoby Brisset seems like a solid candidate to be brought in as a backup. Brisset was in New England for a while and knew the offense. McDaniels could also look to add Brian Hoyer from the Patriots, but he seems likely to return to New England as a backup or even a coach.
Other veteran options could be Chase Daniel, Ryan Fitzpatrick, or Joe Flacco, all of whom pail in comparison to Mariota.
If the Raiders do choose to draft a quarterback late to develop behind Carr and a veteran, keep an eye out for Western Kentucky quarterback Bailey Zappe, who led the FBS in n passing yards and touchdowns. Other potential options include Carson Strong, Kaleb Eleby, or even Desmond Ridder if the new regime looks to take a quarterback on Day 2.
