Analyzing the Raiders Running Back situation entering the 2022 offseason

Jacobs will obviously return to his starting role next season, unless for injury. Jacobs has proved to be a high-level running back who excels at the end of games when the other team is worn down. The Raiders began to open some holes towards the end of the season and Jacobs began running angry.

Jacobs also set career highs in receptions and receiving yards, proving he was a multi-faceted back who can truly do it all.

The question facing Jacobs and the Raiders is picking up the 5th year option on Jacob’s contract. The option is currently projected to come in at about $10.1 million, which is at the high end for the running back position. Jacobs also has a lengthy injury history that needs to be considered.

However, if Jacobs plays like he did his rookie year and the final month of the 2021 season, Jacobs will definitely be back, and the Raiders will have a lot of success because of it.
