Casey Hayward, Cornerback

One of the key former Chargers who came over to the Raiders from Los Angeles was cornerback Casey Hayward. Hayward had an outstanding career with the Chargers, twice being named second-team All-Pro, but was released by the team in early March of 2021, and it only took Bradley less than a month to bring him into the fold.

With the Raiders, Hayward enjoyed a renaissance of his career, becoming not only the best cornerback on the roster but one of the more consistent corners in the NFL. He should have been a Pro Bowler this previous season, as he helped solidify one of the weaker position groups on the Raiders, especially with Trayvon Mullen missing so much time due to injury.

Hayward and Bradley have an outstanding relationship, and his work with the Silver and Black likely has earned the veteran cornerback another big-money contract. The Raiders need to go above and beyond to bring Hayward back in 2023, as they are still very young in the secondary, and his leadership was crucial to this group last year.
