Raiders: 5 moves to clear $13 million in cap space for 2022
By Brad Weiss
The Las Vegas Raiders will be looking to revamp the roster in 2022, and here is a way they can clear $13 million in cap space.
Going into the 2022 offseason, the new regime leading the Las Vegas Raiders is going to want to put its stamp on this roster. General manager David Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels have a lot of decisions to make over the next few months, as well as a crucial 2022 NFL Draft coming up at the end of April.
Last season, Las Vegas got back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season, but it was clear that there were some major issues along this roster. The offensive line was downright terrible at times, and the wide receiver group got thin after the Henry Ruggs III situation, so those are two areas they will need to target this offseason.
Then there is the issue of the free agents the Raiders have, as the front office is going to have to make a decision on over 20 players. Ziegler is a general manager for the first time in his career, but he was a big part of the input in terms of bringing in talent in New England, and they built a winning roster every year.
To make the Raiders a consistent winner, they will have to be very active in free agency and will need the money to do so. According to Spotrac, the Raiders have over $21 million in cap space right now, but here is how they can add $13 million more with only five moves.
