Raiders: Could a Nelson Agholor return be in the future?

What would it take?

In 2022, Agholor will be entering the final year of the contract he signed with New England. Featuring a cap hit of over fourteen million dollars, Agholor will not be cheap. However, it is the final year of the deal so the Raiders would not be tied to him long-term.

Aside from his connection with Derek Carr, Agholor also has ties with head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler. McDaniels, New England’s offensive coordinator for years, coached Agholor last season.

New GM Dave Ziegler was also part of the front office that signed off on his big contract so it is clear he believes in Agholor’s abilities. At the very least, he will have a head start in McDaniels offense.

Acquiring a player a playmaking wide receiver will be paramount for the Raiders in 2022. Simply, they cannot rely on Zay Jones and Bryan Edwards as perimeter options again. Luckily for Las Vegas, Agholor may not cost much in terms of assets either. After a poor 2021 season and entering the last year of his contract, the Raiders likely wouldn’t have to offer more than a third-round pick,

Of course, the prize of the free agency cycle would be players such as Davante Adams or Chris Godwin. If the Raiders were to strike out, however, bringing back a familiar face in Agholor could pay huge dividends.
