Raiders 2022 NFL Draft: Jason Willis’s Top-7 Quarterback Rankings
By Jason Willis
With the 2022 NFL season concluded, it is now officially Draft season for the Raiders. Of course, the quarterbacks will be front and center.
In 2021 the NFL enjoyed one of the most highly touted quarterback draft classes of all time. With five first-round picks, the intrigue around the position could not have been higher. Even more interesting, all five saw the field in their rookie season.
While they had varying degrees of success, they were still deemed ready to see the field.
The 2022 quarterback class is not quite as enchanting. While the 2021 class created arguments about who should be selected and where the 2022 class has many wondering if any of them are even worth a first-round pick. Despite this, the O/U on QBs selected in the first round currently sits at 4.5, proving the NFL is as starved for quarterback production as ever.
Regardless, there are still plenty of interesting prospects in this class. From small school prospects who can move to the players who dominated the SEC, this class will spark debate for years to come. The prevailing theme, however? Be patient.
These quarterbacks will take time and none of them are ready to start on day one. Will some of them do so anyway? Of course but, personally, I would advise against it.
Due to the volatility of this class, every analyst is likely to have different rankings. While it will certainly be several years before we have closure on the 2022 class, the discourse around the way these players are ranked promises to be entertaining for many seasons to come.
