Analyzing the Raiders tight end situation entering the 2022 Offseason

Potential Additions

The Raiders will likely not commit any major resources to bolster this strong group. Carrier seems like a solid option to return but if McDaniels looks to bring in a similar player with experience in his system Jacob Hollister is a name to keep an eye on.

The tight end market is flooded with expensive, aging veterans who won’t have much of a role behind Waller and Moreau and would be too expensive. Some other options that could fill a void left by Carrier are Jesse James or Durham Smythe, veterans who can block and will be cheap. The Raiders are unlikely to spend a relevant draft pick on another tight end with quality backup options on the roster and in free agency.

Overall, with McDaniels at the helm, this should be one of the strengths of this Raiders team, and Waller has to be excited about his new head coach. Rob Gronkowski became a Hall of Fame player in McDaniels’s offensive scheme, and Waller has enough talent to possibly have the same kind of impact in 2022 and beyond.
