Raiders: Grading the offensive position groups entering the 2022 offseason

Offensive Line

The Raiders offensive line is going to be targeted early and often this offseason, as the team tries to upgrade one of their weaker position groups. Last season, the Raiders revamped the unit, trading away starters in Trent Brown, Rodney Hudson, and Gabe Jackson, only to see the group take a step back collectively in 2021.

Now, the Raiders have a lot of holes to fill, as the offensive guard spot has question marks, as does right tackle, and center, even though Andre James played decent football in his first year as a starter. The first-round pick in 2021 Alex Leatherwood flamed out at right tackle and had to be moved inside, but he even struggled there as a rookie.

Overall, a few starting jobs could be up for grabs this offseason, and it will be up to McDaniels and David Ziegler to get this right. This is the biggest decision they will make this offseason because if the Raiders continue to struggle up front on offense, it limits what they could possibly accomplish in the new system.

Grade: C

Overall, there is a lot of work to do in terms of this offense, and it will be an exciting offseason for the Silver and Black in 2022. Josh McDaniels and David Ziegler will be looking to put their stamp on this roster and to do so, they have to make sure they get it right in the 2022 NFL Draft, and their first free agency.
