Las Vegas Raiders: 3 offensive tackles to target in 2022 free agency
Duane Brown
Let’s get the negative out of the way first — yes, Duane Brown will turn 37-years-old before the 2022 season.
Now for the positive. Brown is the epitome of reliability. At 36 years of age, Brown started the entirety of the 2021 season for the Seattle Seahawks, and although he may not have the All-Pro talent of his heyday, Brown is still a very solid player in his own right.
We touched already on how the offensive tackle position has evolved, and some of the top players are well into their 30’s or above. Brown will give the Raiders a veteran voice they have lacked since Donald Penn.
Brown will also come at a rather cheap asking price and probably look at only a likely one-year deal, which will provide the Raiders the funds to improve at other positions of need as well, all the while addressing their glaring hole at right tackle.
This is a sneaky signing to keep an eye on, and Brown may not provide a long term solution at the right tackle position, but a solid plug and play situation that will provide stability for a Raiders team that despite such drastic personnel changes in the offseason, are in win-now mode coming off a postseason appearance.
No shock here if Brown is brought in on a cheap veteran deal.
