Buffalo Bills: Mitchell Trubisky, QB

One big decision that McDaniels has to make in Year 1 is who is going to backup Derek Carr, the unquestioned starting quarterback for the team. Carr seems to be a player McDaniels wants to coach up and is getting nothing but praise from his new head coach, so him going anywhere is out of the question this offseason.

However, his backup quarterback, Marcus Mariota, is entering free agency, and he has stated that he would like to be a starter in the league again. He is a former No. 2 overall pick who has won playoff games in the NFL, so a team is definitely going to take a flier on him to at least come in and fight for a starting job.

One player who is likely going to be a backup again in 2022 is Mitchell Trubisky, who has gotten a lot of praise from his former offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll, in Buffalo. Trubisky would be an excellent player to come in and back up Carr, as he will be a cheaper option and someone who can win you a game if need be.
