Las Vegas Raiders: 3 surprise cuts prior to 2022 free agency

I, like many others, had high hopes for Amik Robertson. While he is undersized, he is tough and had a good college career. I believed that, with the right coaching, he would turn out to be a gritty player in the Las Vegas secondary. Unfortunately, it hasn’t really worked out that way.

Originally, it seemed as though Robertson would be the team’s starting slot corner before Nate Hobbs proved to be an absolute superstar. When Robertson did get reps during the season, he struggled constantly and was eventually replaced by Brandon Facyson and Desmond Trufant.

Truly, it seems as though his smaller frame has hurt his play when playing against the bigger receivers of the NFL.

With only two years left on his rookie contract, now makes the most sense to cut Robertson. If Las Vegas cuts him, they’ll save about a million dollars of cap space. Not much, but certainly, enough for Ziegler to consider it. To replace him, Las Vegas can look to the deep corner class of this year’s draft.
