Las Vegas Raiders: 3 surprise cuts prior to 2022 free agency

Johnathan Abram

While I don’t think is going to necessarily happen, I definitely think it could be on the table. Abram, throughout his career, has had plenty of struggles. He did improve last year when playing in the box safety role, but continuously let up big plays in coverage.

If Las Vegas’ new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham doesn’t believe Abram isn’t good enough to keep around, Las Vegas may consider cutting him.

If Las Vegas did go forward with cutting Abram, they would save about $750,000 of cap space. The only downside is that they would take a dead cap hit in 2022 of almost $3 million. Still, Las Vegas may just feel it best to part ways with the fourth-year safety, especially if they think they can find a better option in free agency or in the draft.

Again, isn’t something I think will happen when considering the dead cap. But definitely be aware of it, as Abram also could possibly be traded if McDaniels and his staff doesn’t like what they see.
