Las Vegas Raiders: 5 bold predictions for the 2022 offseason

Bold Prediction No. 3: The Raiders go WR in Round 1

At the beginning of the 2021 NFL season, it seemed as though the Raiders were set for the foreseeable future at the outside wide receiver position. Henry Ruggs III seemed to have taken a big leap from his rookie season, and reports out of training camp were raving about Bryan Edwards.

Now, after the Ruggs tragedy and a lack of overall growth from Edwards, the Raiders’ offense is missing a true threat on the outside. While Hunter Renfrow has emerged as a Pro-Bowl caliber player, he does not have the speed to play on the outside.

Las Vegas has a couple different options to address this issue, being either in the draft or free agency. Considering the Raiders have other, more pressing needs to commit dollars to in free agency, expect them to focus on the draft to find a number one receiver.

The Silver and Black should have several options in the draft, from Treylon Burks, Jameson Williams, and Drake London, to the Ohio State pair of Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.

Any of these top wide receivers in the 2022 NFL Draft would have an immediate impact on the Raiders’ offense and give Derek Carr a top outside target once again. With the 22nd overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Raiders will select a wide receiver.
