Las Vegas Raiders: 5 bold predictions for the 2022 offseason

Bold Prediction No. 4: Raiders extend Hunter Renfrow

Hunter Renfrow, after being selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, has emerged as one of the best, if not the best, slot wide receivers in the entire league. The Clemson standout has turned into Derek Carr’s favorite target, and he has shown an uncanny ability to get open when it is needed most.

He has certainly earned his nickname, “3rd and Renfrow”.

Renfrow had the best season of his career so far in 2021, posting career highs across the board. He finished the season with 103 receptions and surpassed 1,000 receiving yards. The slot-man also caught nine touchdowns.

Now, the Raiders will have the opportunity to lock Renfrow up with a long-term extension and it is doubtful that they will miss said opportunity. He is a perfect receiver for Josh McDaniels’ offense and has a clear, strong connection with Derek Carr.

If Las Vegas can add a number one receiver on the outside, that will only open things up more for Renfrow in the future. There are few slot-receivers in the NFL of the caliber of Renfrow, and the Raiders would be foolish to let him go.

Before the start of the 2022-23 season, expect Ziegler and McDaniels to lock up Renfrow in Las Vegas for the foreseeable future.
