Raiders: Reasons why Las Vegas will return to the playoffs next season

A Talented Defensive Coordinator

One of the biggest and most important additions to the revamped Las Vegas coaching staff was Patrick Graham. Graham was previously the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants, where he was able to craft a top defensive in 2020 before the team was flooded with injuries in 2021.

What makes Graham so special is that he doesn’t lock himself into a certain type of scheme. He changes the defense week to week depending on what type of offense the team will be facing. Graham also doesn’t force players to play to their weakness to fit a scheme. Rather, he believes that the best way to use a player is to have them play to their strengths.

This will be incredibly important to how the young talent of the Raider defense develops in 2022.

While Gus Bradley was great as a defensive coordinator of the Raiders and should be commended for his efforts, Graham does seem to be an upgrade. He’ll play a massive role in Las Vegas’ success in 2022, as the defense has enough playmakers to make the group elite.
