The Raiders’ linebacker group might be scrapped for the most part. I just don’t see a scenario where Nick Kwiatkoski comes back and, yes, Denzel Perryman had a Pro Bowl year, but does he fit into what Patrick Graham will do as defensive coordinator? Quay Walker excels at coverage, and that’s something Graham can use.
The Raiders’ new defensive coordinator will bring a change in philosophy with him to Sin City. He’s not a traditionalist in the sense that he’s committing to a 3-4 or 4-3, but rather, he’ll adjust every week and put every player in a position to succeed regardless of scheme. Walker comes into the NFL as one of the most well-rounded defensive prospects. PFF grades his coverage at 70.0, his run defense at 71.0, and his pass-rushing ability at 69.8.
Georgia LB Quay Walker has excellent size (6'4, 240 lbs.) but he can move

A great size/speed option for the Giants who will move up boards if he tests out of the gym (which he probably will)

Walker’s biggest positive trait is his raw strength, as he showed at Georgia the ability to handle incoming offensive linemen in the defense’s second level. He displayed some vicious takedown ability, which will no doubt help him in the NFL. Walker is an excellent tackler who could flourish under Graham’s direction and with tutelage from Antonio Pierce.
