Raiders 2022 7-Round Mock Draft: Pre-NFL Combine Edition
Raider Nation, take it easy. I know the possibility of drafting a quarterback sends many into a frenzy. However, drafting Notre Dame’s Jack Coan might be more of a need than you might realize. It’s not impossible to imagine a scenario where the Raiders move on from Marcus Mariota, a commodity that might be too expensive this year.
The team could pursue a free agent and offer the veteran’s minimum. If that’s the case, why not take a chance on Coan and have him sit behind Carr? The worst-case scenario for him would be that if it doesn’t pan out, he’ll be out of the NFL in two years and the Raiders would have used a seventh-round choice.
In his sole season at Notre Dame, Coan threw for 25 touchdowns, which was second among the Independents. Coan possesses sufficient arm strength to at least warrant a look in the NFL and possesses notable accuracy. As someone who flourished in two different programs, Coan proved his leadership abilities as a quarterback. Let’s face it, if he’s there in the seventh round, it’s a win-win for the Raiders.
