Aaron Rodgers and his eventful history with the Raiders

Potential trade to the Raiders?

Rewind back to 2007. Personally, I was seven years old but in the NFL things had gotten as bad as they could for the Raiders. One of the league’s worst teams, superstar wideout Randy Moss had become disgruntled with the organization. After recording just 553 yards and three touchdowns for the 2-14 Raiders in 2006, who could blame him?

Once it became clear that Moss would be traded, he had no shortage of suitors. Among them was the Green Bay Packers. Looking to combine the otherworldly speed of Moss with the mammoth arm strength of Brett Favre, the Packers were in win-now mode. Who would Green Bay be sending to Oakland?

None other than Aaron Rodgers.

Of course, this deal eventually would fall through but what if? In a move that totally alters the landscape of the NFL, the Raiders no longer select Jamarcus Russell number one overall in 2007. Would that pick be used on Calvin Johnson instead? What about Joe Thomas? Truthfully, any selection likely helps the Raiders more than Russell. The Silver and Black would also have had stability at quarterback, something they would have to wait seven more years for.
