3 Reasons Raiders are smart to shut down Derek Carr rumors
New Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels is saying all the right things at this year’s NFL Combine, especially with regards to quarterback Derek Carr.
Much to the chagrin of many Raiders fans, owner Mark Davis elected to bring in McDaniels, a Bill Belichick disciple, over other candidates, including former interim coach Rich Bisaccia, who helped rally the team and lead them to a playoff appearance.
To say he’ll need to win over Raider Nation is putting it lightly considering his background with the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos.
However, credit has to be given where it’s due as the organization navigates the offseason, particularly regarding Carr. There’s been plenty of hearsay regarding the Silver and Black this year due to Carr’s contract.
The question that’s been stemming since 2021 is whether Carr would play in a “lame duck” year or would the organization show a long-term commitment. So far, McDaniels and, by extension, the Raiders’ organization, including general manager Dave Ziegler, are handling it well.
