Could the Las Vegas Raiders trade for DK Metcalf?
Why would Seattle trade him?
A physical anomaly, Metcalf fell all the way to the last pick of the second round back in 2019. Since then, he has done nothing but prove his doubters wrong. In his three seasons in the league, he has 3,170 yards and 29 touchdowns. He has also been elected to a Pro Bowl. Well known across the NFL for his mix of height, weight, and speed, he routinely dominates defenders by just being the best athlete on the field.
So why would Seattle even consider trading him?
Well, after some questionable trades and draft selections in recent years, the Seahawks find themselves in a difficult spot. After finishing the season with a 7-10 record, Seattle was the only team in their division to miss the playoffs. Going forward, they appear to be in rebuilding mode. What makes this difficult, however, is the fact that the Seahawks don’t have a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Trading Metcalf would no doubt net Seattle a first-round selection in April. When looking at recent wide receiver trades, it could even net them more. When the Bills traded for Stefon Diggs they had to give up, a first, fifth, and sixth-round pick in the upcoming draft and a fourth the year after.
Raiders fans will also remember the trade involving Amari Cooper who was sent to the Cowboys for just a first-round pick.
