Ohio State wide receiver Chris Olave put on a clinic at the NFL Combine. Would the speedster be a good fit for the Las Vegas Raiders?

It’s no secret that the Raiders could use help at the wide receiver position. While the team has Hunter Renfrow, more is needed, especially in terms of pure speed. Losing Henry Ruggs III last season left a glaring hole in terms of talent. It’s not a knock on Zay Jones or DeSean Jackson, but neither of them is a long-term solution.

Depending on what the Raiders do during NFL free agency, they could surely be looking to draft a wide receiver with the 22nd pick. The question is whether Olave is the guy. Well, the former Buckeye had social media ablaze with his Combine performance. The Raiders, who are no stranger to falling in love with speed in terms of drafting players, had many conjuring up a scenario where Olave becomes a Raider.

Should the Raiders be considering Chris Olave with their first-round pick?

If the Raiders really want to stretch the field, especially from the outside, Olave is their man. His 4.26 time on the 4o-yard dash helped to further cement what he’ll bring with his legs. In fact, while it may be somewhat premature, the Raiders could feasibly replace what they lost in Ruggs with Olave.

At six feet and 187 pounds, Olave could play either inside or outside, and while the team does have Bryan Edwards, what they can do in terms of separation is worlds apart. However, Edwards was adequately used in Jon Gruden’s system. That could change with Josh McDaniels on board.

All of that conjecture aside, it’s also possible that Olave might’ve leapfrogged fellow Ohio State teammate Garrett Wilson and USC’s Drake London as the top receiving prospect. As Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal pointed out, Olave might’ve performed his way out of the Raiders’ hands on Thursday.
