Raiders 7-round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Las Vegas gets explosive on offense
2022 NFL draft (with Chark) under year 1 of the Las Vegas Raiders new regime.
With the seemingly inevitable departure of Casey Hayward, the Las Vegas Raiders once again have to make plans for bringing in a second outside corner. This time it’s even more difficult, as they’re without Damon Arnette – Someone the franchise believed in for the future.
How do they tackle this problem? That’s simple. They draft Cincinnati’s Coby Bryant.
Bryant possesses great ball skills, and as a result has come down with 9 INTs in his college career. This should be particularly important to Vegas, as no one in the NFL had less INTs than them in 2021.
Aside from his ball skills, Bryant has a great feel and understanding of the game – Something Casey Hayward in particular shined with. The 6’2 corner understands concepts and down and distance well, allowing him to adjust at various times throughout a game.
A weakness with his game is in the tackling department. The ball skills and understanding are there, absolutely, but the tackling… not so much. Due to this, we can expect the CB who played with Sauce Gardner to slip a bit.
Although it’s never easy to replace an All-Pro like Hayward, Bryant is certainly a step in the right direction, who would likely come in and take over CB2. Not to mention at name value, this is quarterback Derek Carr’s idol. I’m sure the QB would enjoy this pick.
