What about DJ Chark?

Last week, it was reported the Las Vegas Raiders have a significant interest in wideout DJ Chark. This week, Chark is reported to be flying out to Vegas, just ahead of the NFL’s “legal tampering” period.

Let’s not jump to conclusions just yet – After all, this is Las Vegas, not Oakland.

Last year, it was reported Richard Sherman was in Vegas, amid rumors of mutual interest with the Raiders. In the end, Sherman was in fact visiting Vegas but was enjoying the ample entertainment the world-renown city has to offer. People love to go to Vegas, even NFL players – It doesn’t always have to do with football.

With the above being said, the timing appears to be a bit too coincidental. It’s hard to imagine Chark doesn’t meet with a Raiders’ affiliate at the very least, regardless of what his ultimate intentions are.

Chark is one of the players I’ve connected to Vegas for weeks now, with more evidence to support that theory coming out every day. The receiver from Jacksonville would bring an immediate presence on the outside, both as a player you can throw a large number of targets to, and as that deep-ball presence this Raiders team desperately needs.

If Las Vegas does strike a deal with Chark in free agency, don’t expect it to be the last move they make in regards to the receiving-corps. There’s a lot of work to be done in this unit, and while Chark won’t fix everything by himself, his presence goes a long way in the right direction.
