Raiders free agency: Recapping Day 1 of 2022 legal tampering period
Checking in with Raider Nation favorites
One of the biggest developments yesterday was swallowed up by the league-wide agreements; The Packers have thrown their money at linebacker De’Vondre Campbell, while Davante Adams refuses to play on a tag. If this wasn’t interesting enough, Adams expressed his displeasure by stating he felt a little betrayed by Rodgers not allowing him to eat too.
In just a handful of days, what looked like a spirited comeback by Green Bay to keep the ’21 roster intact turned into a drama-packed scenario, where likely the only plausible action is shipping the wideout. Raiders could, and frankly should be major players here, if this comes to pass.
After losing out on the JC Jackson sweepstakes, this might be just what the doctor ordered to get rid of the bitter taste in the front office’s mouth. Picking up the phone and dialing Packers’ general manager Brian Gutekunst could be pivotal, but so is keeping in mind the bill Adams will surely run up.
With all the cap Las Vegas has freed up this week, you’d assume it was to prepare for a big move; How big would a trade for Davante Adams be?
Another fan-favorite is Allen Robinson, who the Raiders were reportedly in on to start the day. No further progress has been reported there, and Detroit remains the front-runner, where Robinson was predicted to land prior to free agency starting.
Lastly, there have been a few reports that suggest Tyrann Matthieu is one of Las Vegas’ targets. While these sources are typically credible, the problem is, those sources appear to have stemmed their belief from a fake report. Now, it is possible the Raiders do have the Honey Badger down their sights but don’t put too much thought into it; A lot of other teams are already locked in on the All-Pro.
