Raiders 2022 offseason: 3 more big moves Las Vegas could make

Bring back an old friend

Now Raider Nation, before you run to the comments to yell at me, think for a second. Do you really want to see Alex Leatherwood attempt to block either Joey Bosa or Khalil Mack? How about Bradley Chubb or Randy Gregory? This is where Trent Brown comes in.

Signed to a four-year, $66 million contract in 2019, it was expected that Brown would be a long-term fixture on the Raiders offensive line. Instead, for several reasons, he just simply couldn’t stay on the field. Playing in sixteen games over 2019 and 2020, Brown was traded to New England before the 2021 season.

The injury woes continued there as well as he played in just nine games.

When he is on the field, however, he is one of the very best tackles in the NFL. New head coach Josh McDaniels knows this as well as he won a Super Bowl with him in New England. His absurd mix of size and athletic ability would fit in great at the Raiders’ vacant right tackle spot and allow them to continue using Leatherwood at guard.

His injury history also means his next contract will be substantially cheaper. Likely to get a one-year, “prove-it” deal, Brown could be a huge difference-maker in round two with the Raiders.
