Raiders 2022 offseason: 3 more big moves Las Vegas could make

Massive trade for a star WR

After being franchise tagged by the Green Bay Packers, Davante Adams is highly unlikely to leave the Packers via trade. It is hard to imagine Aaron Rodgers would have returned to the Packers if it was not made clear that Adams would be back.

However, Adams has made it clear he will not play on the franchise tag. Could the Raiders put together a package for the league’s best receiver?

As mentioned, Adams is the best receiver in the NFL. With 2,927 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns over the last two seasons, he has been named an All-Pro in both 2019 and 2020. This sheer dominance would fit right in with any offense, but specifically the Raiders due to his connection with quarterback Derek Carr.

Teammates at Fresno State, Adams, and Carr formed a lethal connection that led to Adams recording an unbelievable 233 catches, 3,031 yards, and 38 touchdowns in just two seasons.  Furthermore, the two have expressed their desire to play together again with Adams even saying “It would be a dream to play with Derek Carr again.”

Not only would this make the Raiders a contender in the AFC West, but it would also likely make them one of the best teams in the NFL. Davante Adams is the transformational playmaker the Raiders offense badly needs.

Alas, this is the exact reason the trade is highly unlikely. Simply, it would be malpractice on the part of the Packers to trade a Hall of Fame talent in his prime. However, until his extension is reported, Raider Nation will continue to dream.
