Derek Carr: 3 reasons the Raiders QB will have an MVP-caliber 2022 season

Two words: Davante Adams

If you think back to Derek Carr’s days as a Fresno State Bulldog, you likely envision some of his many passing yards and touchdowns. With 12,843 yards passing and 113 touchdowns to just 24 interceptions, there is a lot to remember. On the receiving end of many of those passes was Davante Adams.

Since those days at Fresno State, Adams has blossomed into the best wide receiver in the NFL. Once a role player in their offense he has become Aaron Rodgers’s number one receiver over the last two seasons with 2,927 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns. He was an All-Pro selection both years as well.

Unhappy with his contract situation, Adams desired to play for the Raiders. Looking to reunite him with Carr, the Raiders gave up their first and second-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft to do so. His addition creates the best offense that Carr has ever played in. Combine the unreal skillset of Adams with the reliability of Hunter Renfrow and the physical dominance of Darren Waller and you have an offense that is ready to explode.

Above all, Carr will be the beneficiary. In fact, the last quarterback to play with Davante Adams won back-to-back MVP awards.
