Could the Raiders add another offensive Pro Bowler in Julio Jones?
By Jason Willis
With the addition of Davante Adams, the Raiders had added another elite player to their offense. With questions at the other outside receiver spot, could Julio Jones fill the need?
In a move that sent shockwaves across the NFL, the Las Vegas Raiders have traded for former Packers wide receiver Davante Adams. In adding him they have acquired a dominant number one receiver who can win from a variety of alignments. His relationship with quarterback Derek Carr only makes the acquisition better.
However, the Raiders still have a question mark at the other outside receiver spot. Currently, the incumbent is former third-round pick, Bryan Edwards. While he is not a bad player, he has not met the lofty expectations that get thrust upon him every off-season.
In 2021, it was Zay Jones who was holding down that spot but he has since left to join the Jacksonville Jaguars. The only other receiver added in the 2022 off-season is former Dolphin Mack Hollins who had just 223 receiving yards in 2021.
It is clear that the Raiders could use another veteran wide receiver. Several days into free agency, however, many of the premier options have been signed already. This is where former All-Pro Julio Jones can be a valuable addition.
