Raiders: Why Jermaine Eluemunor might be the answer at right tackle

No. 3: Develop a right tackle behind Eluemunor in 2022

As the Raiders work to turn Leatherwood into a Pro Bowl-level guard, the team can develop a future starting right tackle behind Eluemunor. Giving up their first and second-round draft picks in this year’s draft to the Packers certainly stings.

On the flip side, this class is remarkably deep in offensive line prospects.

The Raiders could feasibly draft a prospect in the third round and have him sit for a year as the Eluemunor/Parker duo holds down the position this year. According to Pro Football Network and their player positional rankings, the Raiders might have a shot at one of these tackles in the third round:

  • No. 87 Daniel Faalale, Minnesota
  • No. 101 Matt Waletzko, North Dakota
  • No. 110 Darian Kinnard, Kentucky
  • No. 122 Braxton Jones, Southern Utah

What fans think of players doesn’t mean much for a team’s front office, but it’s certainly worth noting that many in Raider Nation appreciated Eluemunor’s efforts when he was tasked with filling in due to injuries.

At the end of the day, the offensive lineman knows the system that’ll soon be implemented, he’ll be relatively cheap, he’s versatile, as previously mentioned, and at 27, he’s still in his physical prime.
