Raiders mock draft: Pick 165 – Zach Tom, OT, Wake Forest

As of this writing, the Raiders could possibly go with Alex Leatherwood or Jermaine Eluemunor at right tackle. The fact is, with this class being so deep, the Raiders must walk away with at least one tackle prospect, and Zach Tom from Wake Forest makes sense.

Tom’s biggest strength is versatility, which would also be of use with the Raiders’ offensive line. He possesses excellent technique and polished timing with his execution of each play. The fact that he consistently holds his ground while in pass protection and run blocking is noteworthy.

If Tom wants to become a starting NFL tackle, he’ll need to work on his strength, something that he can certainly do under Deuce Gruden. Nevertheless, Tom’s versatility and ability to control the line of scrimmage make him a worthy draft choice by the Raiders.
