Raiders: 3 players Las Vegas could trade prior to the 2022 NFL Draft
Likely trade value: Late day three pick.
Perhaps the most obvious inclusion to this list, Ferrell has never lived up to his hype. Selected fourth overall back in the 2019 NFL Draft, he was widely considered the biggest reach of the draft. Although he had a good career at Clemson that included a National Championship, it has not translated to the NFL.
Since being drafted, Ferrell has recorded just eight sacks over three seasons. The lowest moment came in 2021 when he had just 1.5 sacks and didn’t start in any game. With his playing time diminishing, he was likely on the roster bubble had the previous regime stayed. However, the Raiders are under new leadership with Dave Ziegler and Josh McDaniels. Neither has any connection to Ferrell.
If a team were to trade for Ferrell, the Raiders likely would not receive much in return. In the last year of his deal with a pending fifth-year option, a team could take a chance on him once again. As we have seen in the past, former first-rounders often get a second chance no matter the situation. Expect the Raiders to get a conditional seventh-round pick back in a trade for the former Clemson star.
