Adaptation will be the key

While the Denver Broncos certainly have a solid collection of offensive talent for new head coach Nathaniel Hackett to unleash. With young receivers in Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, and Courtland Sutton, the talent is certainly present. However, is it better than what Wilson had in Seattle with Metcalf and Lockett?

The biggest question will be how Wilson adapts to Hackett’s offense. Coming from the Green Bay Packers, Hackett likely will want to run a variation of the west coast offense that he helped deploy while there. For Wilson, this will be a massive departure from the offense he ran in Seattle which featured a heavy dose of running to build the play-action off of it. Due to Wilson’s brand of “backyard” football where he often runs around to create plays, he turns every offense into “his” offense.

This, of course, is part of his brilliance. While he struggles to complete passes on time and keep the offense in rhythm, he also makes some incredible plays outside of structure. First and foremost, Wilson will have to become better at completing passes to the middle of the field.

As such, at the start of 2022, there is a good chance that Carr is the better quarterback. A very adaptable player, changing offenses is nothing new for him and he projects very well into Josh McDaniels’ offense.

However, Wilson is the more talented player so, when Hackett and Wilson figure each other out, expect lots of fireworks between the two. While we may not have an answer to the question yet, the division is loaded at quarterback regardless.
