Raiders 7-round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Las Vegas selects a QB
Round 5: Pick 164
- Moro Ojomo: Texas – DT
The defensive tackle position was solid for the Raiders in 2021. Solid, but not spectacular.
In terms of what the current situation is at defensive tackle, it seems it is going to look entirely different. Free-agent acquisition Bilal Nichols was a huge upgrade over a rotation of defensive tackles who did surpass expectations in 2021 but never struck fear in the eyes of opposing teams.
Who lines up next to Nichols is a bit of a question mark at this point, and it does seem there may be another year of rotating at the defensive tackle slot next to Nichols.
Moro Ojomo was an All-Big 12 honorable mention in 2021. He has been a steady force on this Texas defense ever since he was inserted into the lineup as a redshirt freshman in 2019.
Ojomo is not the biggest at the position, but his athleticism is very noteworthy, and he has the potential to be a devastating pass-rushing option at the defensive tackle position.
The defensive tackle depth chart is currently a work in progress, and adding a young talent with the potential to be great in pass-rushing situations, as well as the ability to stop the run which was evident last season at Texas, is something the Raiders should not pass up.
If he is there this late in the draft, Ojomo would be truly an intriguing option.
