Are the Raiders in on Mathieu?

On Thursday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the Raiders have confirmed interest in Mathieu. Don’t celebrate just yet, Raider Nation, because nine other teams share the same reported interest.

Mathieu has spent his last three seasons in the AFC West, with the division rival Kansas City Chiefs. In these three years alone, the versatile safety has earned two first-team All-Pros, keeping him near the top of the safety pyramid. In this time, Mathieu has broken up 27 passes and made 13 go the other way. In his first two seasons as a Chief, the highest passer rating he allowed was 60.2.

It’s obvious Mathieu is a great player that most teams should have an interest in, but what isn’t so obvious is exactly how he fits with a team. That said, let’s talk about why this move makes sense for Las Vegas.
