Raiders mock draft: Round 5, Pick 165 – Otito Ogbonnia, DT, UCLA

The Raiders are looking for some pass rush in terms of their defensive line’s interior. Right now, it’s made up mostly of run stuffers, led by Johnathan Hankins. Adding UCLA’s Otito Ogbonnia gives the Silver and Black a prospect with upside in that department. No doubt his best quality. PFF graded it at 78.3 last season.

Yes, he’s raw in many aspects, including play recognition and his shortcomings as an anchor, but with the right tutelage, Ogbonnia can make use of his notable strength and occasional explosiveness off the line of scrimmage.

He has excellent hands and solid movement in terms of how he strikes at blockers. Look for him to eventually become a pass-rushing force inside as he plays mostly as a rotational piece, learning and transitioning into the NFL.

Adding hard-hitting safety and a potential pass-rushing defensive tackle would be an excellent haul for the Raiders in the fifth round with back-to-back selections.
