Revised AFC QB rankings after all the free agency moves so far

. . Matt Ryan. player. 46. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. #9

After enduring one season with Carson Wentz at quarterback, the Colts did everything in their power to upgrade at the position. After eventually finding a trade partner for Wentz in Washington, Indianapolis searched for a quarterback to lead their team that’s full of talent on both sides of the ball.

The answer for the Colts ended up being former Atlanta Falcon Matt Ryan. A former MVP back in 2016, Ryan will be 37 when the season starts in 2022. His best days are certainly behind him as he failed to cross 4,000 yards for the first time since 2011 despite playing in an extra game. Regardless, Ryan is still the best quarterback the Colts have had since the days of Andrew Luck.

As mentioned, the Colts roster is loaded. On offense, they feature one of the NFL’s best offensive lines and, of course, one of the league’s best running backs in Jonathan Taylor. They also have one of the league’s best young wideouts in Michael Pittman who had over 1,000 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Barely missing the playoffs last season with Wentz under center, the Colts should be much better with Ryan in 2022. Yes, he has taken a step back from his MVP days, but he may be the piece the Colts need to make a run in the playoffs.
