The Las Vegas Raiders have made it a point to build around Derek Carr, and he is now in the best position in his career to succeed.

At the beginning of the offseason, it was the same old stories surrounding this Las Vegas Raiders football team. The rumors swirled that, once again, Derek Carr would be on his way out, and the team was linked to so many other quarterbacks.

From Russell Wilson to Deshaun Watson, the next Raiders quarterback was going to be anybody other than No. 4. That was until the team traded for his best friend, Davante Adams, putting an end to any rumor that someone other than Carr would be under center for the Raiders in 2022.

With Adams now in Las Vegas, it changes everything surrounding Carr, including the narrative that he is not going to be the guy moving forward. Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler have made it clear they are going to build around him, and in doing so, they are putting him in the best situation of his career to succeed.

Raiders have surrounded Derek Carr with elite talent

Not only have the Raiders added an elite player to their offense, but they have done so on defense as well, adding Chandler Jones, a two-time All-Pro edge rusher. The tandem of him and Maxx Crosby is going to be fun to watch next season, and with a revamped secondary, you have to like the chances of the Raiders taking another step forward on defense.

Outside of Adams, the Raiders also added Demarcus Robinson and Mack Hollins to the mix at wide receiver, and added two New England favorites to the running back room, signing Brandon Bolden and fullback Jakob Johnson.

Of course, there are still some issues along the offensive line that need to be addressed, and the team will have to utilize the rest of free agency, or the NFL Draft to fix them. There is still hope that Alex Leatherwood can develop into a legitimate right tackle, or even be above-average on the inside, but the jury is still out on that.

However, overall, this is the best position of his career for Carr to prove he has yet to plateau.
