The defensive backfield has been an issue for the Las Vegas Raiders for years, but in 2022, the group actually has depth and star power.

For years, there have been significant issues for the Raiders franchise when it came to the defensive backfield. In fact, it seems like the stars have been few and far between since Nnamdi Asomugha left as a free agent, and then when Charles Woodson retired.

However, the Raiders have started to trend in the right direction in recent years in terms of their talent, especially with what we have seen from the two rookies last year. Nate Hobbs and Tre’Von Moehrig were two guys taken after the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but they ended up being two of the best rookie defenders in the league last season.

As is the case every season, questions still loom in terms of the cornerback and safety positions, but you have to think this is the best collection of talent they have had in some time. The Silver and Black take on Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Russell Wilson twice a season going forward, so being more than just solid in the secondary is paramount.

Here, we take a look at the Raiders’ defensive backfield.
