Raiders Draft: Day 3 Targets that can help QB Derek Carr
Raiders Day 3 Target – Cole Turner, TE, Nevada
While the Raiders will feature Darren Waller and Foster Moreau in 2022, adding a future prospect beyond 2022 would be a smart move. Nevada’s Cole Turner, if available in the fifth round, could give head coach Josh McDaniels a tight end for him to mold for the future.
Cole had a solid outing at the combine, posting a 4.76 time in his 40-yard dash along with a 27-inch vertical jump, 120-inch broad jump, and 17 reps on the bench press.
At six-foot-six and about 240-plus pounds, Turner has the size and speed you look for in a future NFL tight end. Through his college experience, he played significant snaps as both a traditional tight end and on the outside as well, meaning his versatility could be of use in McDaniels’ play calling.
Not only that, but Cole also flourished as a pass blocker, something that the Raiders could always use more of.
One of the Silver and Black’s biggest weaknesses has been their red zone inefficiency. Due to his size and leaping ability (which he displayed at the combine), Cole would help in that department. That is something an offensive guru such as McDaniels could easily exploit. A potential weapon for the future in the fifth round with incredible upside makes too much sense to pass up.
