Raiders Day 3 Wide Receiver Option No. 4 – Dontario Drummond, Mississippi
Unlike the previous prospects, Dontario Drummond is known more for his versatility than for being a vertical threat. The Raiders could certainly use their own version of a Deebo Samuel, though let me be clear, that’s not a comparison, rather it’s to show how Drummond can be used at the next level.
Drummond is, simply put, an athlete. He’s physically gifted and noticeably well-built; in fact, he looks more like a running back than a receiver. His collegiate playing experience will lend itself to his NFL transition due to the complexity of routes at Ole Miss. On top of his notable route-running, Drummond lined up all over the field, whether it was outside wide, in the slot, or, of course, out of the backfield.
His 11 touchdowns in the red zone are indicative of what he brings to an NFL team. On top of that, he can turn into an asset in run blocking. Drummond has the necessary strength to be a blocker downfield and help open or maintain running lanes. While he transitions to the pros, the Raiders could make use of his special team’s abilities as a kick returner.
