Ranking every starting quarterback in the NFL after 2022 Free Agency

QB. TuaTagovailoa. 20. 59. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. . player

What a strange start to Tua Tagovailoa’s NFL career. While he has never really been overtly bad, he hasn’t ever shown high-end ability either. The same was true throughout 2021. As rumors circled about a potential Deshaun Watson trade, Tagovailoa posted a stat line of 2,653 yards, sixteen touchdowns, and ten interceptions in thirteen games.

Despite the lesser numbers posted by the second-year pro, the Dolphins were able to find an offense that fits his strengths. Through heavy reliance on RPOs, Miami was able to make things easier on their young quarterback who, clearly, has not gained complete confidence in his abilities yet.

Tua threw so many RPOs in 2021 that he led the league with 447 yards on these passes despite missing four games. Second place was Justin Herbert with 360 passing yards.

In 2022 the Dolphins are in a difficult spot. Yes they found an offense that works for Tua and that is good, but how valuable is it? After all, if they only play you’re confident your QB can run is RPO your offense is in a tough spot.

If Tagovailoa can mature a bit as a passer and learn to become more aggressive, he can easily move up on this list. However, if nothing changes, it will be more disappointment in The Sunshine State.
