Ranking every starting quarterback in the NFL after 2022 Free Agency
Once a prospect from lowly Wyoming that was drafted in hopes of developing his obvious tools, Josh Allen has become an elite NFL quarterback. With 4,407 yards and 36 touchdowns, few players had as good of a season as the Bills’ young passer.
What he followed this up with was even more impressive. In Buffalos’ first playoff game against the New England Patriots, Allen and the Bills played a perfect game on offense. Allen himself finished 21/25 for 308 yards and five touchdowns. Allen’s offense scored a touchdown on every drive that wasn’t a kneel down.
The fireworks continued the next week as the Bills and Chiefs played one of the greatest games in NFL history. Although his team fell short, Allen put forth a herculean effort with 329 yards and four touchdowns.
In 2022, Josh Allen will be tasked with following up on one of the greatest postseason performances of all time, despite the early exit. Regardless, Allen is one of the most physically gifted passers of all time and, somehow, keeps getting better. His duels with the other quarterbacks in the division will be appointment television for a long time.

To put it plainly, Justin Herbert is ridiculous. Much like the players immediately before and after him on this list, he is capable of making every throw on the field. This is good because the Chargers ask him to do just that. In just his second season, Herbert threw for 5,014 yards and 38 touchdowns.
Just absurd numbers for a player who will be 24 at the start of next season.
While the Chargers would eventually miss out on the playoffs, it was not due to Herbert’s play. Quite the opposite in fact as he put forth a heroic effort of his own with a 383 yard, three-touchdown performance against the Raiders to try and will his team into the playoffs. He would fall short, but he was the best player on the field that night.
In 2022, the sky is the limit for Justin Herbert. The Chargers have a boatload of cap space to improve the team around their young star and used it to add to their defense so Herbert will not have to carry the team every week. A perennial MVP candidate going forward, 2022 could be the year Herbert collects his first piece of hardware.
