It doesn’t feel like all that long ago that Jared Goff helped take the Rams to a Super Bowl as one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league. Fast forward to 2022 and he just finished his first season as the quarterback of the Lions as the Rams finally got their ring without him. While Detroit could certainly take a quarterback in this month’s draft, this is Goff’s position right now.
In 2021, Goff wasn’t overtly bad, he just wasn’t all that great either. Playing on one of the worst teams in football, he recorded 3,245 passing yards for nineteen touchdowns and eight interceptions in fourteen games. With a 3-10-1 record under his watch, the Lions did not play winning football but it was not all the fault of Goff.
Regardless, Goff has proven at this point that he is a limited quarterback. A solid, if unspectacular passer, it is always going to be hard to win games with him as your starter. As such, it would behoove the Lions to add a young passer in the draft such as Malik Willis to develop him while Goff starts the 2022 season.
