Raiders 2022 free agency: A pair of defenders added to the roster
The Las Vegas Raiders made a couple of moves on Monday, adding to the depth of the team.
As the league marches into the later stages of free agency, teams across the NFL begin to shift their attention to stockpiling depth. On Monday, the Las Vegas Raiders followed suit, adding two more defensive players to the roster.
These added players are edge rusher Tashawn Bower, and returning safety Roderic Teamer.
Bower, 27, has started three games in his pro career, totaling 22 tackles. The former Patriot also has 2 sacks and 4 tackles in the backfield, as he reunites with Dave Ziegler in Las Vegas.
In 2019, Bower missed the entity of the season with an Achilles tear. The following season, being his only full year with New England, the undrafted free agent played the highest percentage of season snaps, at 31%.
Raiders making Monday moves
The Raiders also brought back safety and special teams player, Roderic Teamer.
Teamer joined the Silver and Black last season, backed by familiarity with then Raider’s defensive coordinator, Gus Bradley. The 6’0 safety played under Bradley in his rookie season, back in 2019. While Gus found his way to a new home over the off-season, Teamer decided to stick around, agreeing to a one-year extension with Las Vegas.
Last season, in his first year as a Raider, Teamer appeared in 10 games. In these games, he recorded 18 tackles and a pass breakup, playing with the aggression Raider Nation likes their safeties to display. Now returning under a new defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham, general manager Dave Ziegler is hoping Teamer continues to provide a spark in the rotation.
Bower and Teamer weren’t the only players the Las Vegas signed on Monday; In fact, Bower wasn’t the only player with “Bower” in his last name who agreed to terms with the Raiders. Tight end Nick Bowers, who began his Raider tenure back in the 2020 off-season as an undrafted free agent, also signed an extension with the team.
Last season, Bowers appeared in his first regular-season game as a Raider, tallying 40 offensive snaps throughout the year.
The Raiders also waived offensive lineman Kamaal Seymour.
