What does this mean for the Raiders moving forward?

Securing the services of a three-time Pro Bowler who owns most of the organization’s passing records is a sound business decision. For all of the conjecture and hearsay over the past couple of years surrounding Carr, there was never any official word that the team was looking elsewhere for a quarterback.

McDaniels and Ziegler came in following the team’s playoff exit and decided to go all-in on Carr. I mean, why else would you give up two valuable picks (a first and second-rounder) for wide receiver Davante Adams, Carr’s college receiver and personal friend?

As far as the financial aspect is concerned, the Raiders have ensured Carr is once again in the upper tier of paid NFL quarterbacks. As Tom Pelissero pointed out, Carr joins other NFL stars such as Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, and Aaron Rodgers who make more than $40 million a year.
